The Kilimanjaro record was set when Swiss mountain runner Karl Egloff reached the 5,895m summit on August 13, 2014 in 4 hours and 56 minutes. This was recorded as the fastest climb of Kilimanjaro. In 2010 he also completed the fastest ascent to date of the Spanish Kilimanjaro climber Kilian Jornet.
