Climbing Kilimanjaro is not very difficult most days because the paths are not steep and mainly have to do with the altitude. The night at the summit is extremely difficult, however, as it is the coldest and windiest part of your adventure. A 4,084 foot climb with 49% less oxygen and a descent of almost 6,870 feet. It can take up to 12-14 hours to walk.

A common question that we are asked all the time and that we see a lot on the various forums is how hard is it to climb Kilimanjaro? The answer to this question is a bit complicated because it depends on many factors and is very individual.

Because what is “difficult” for one person is “easy” for another. And since something is difficult, doesn’t that make it more satisfying?

A lot of people said “Kilimanjaro is the hardest thing I’ve ever done, especially on the night of the summit”… and then they did it again. We’ve yet to meet someone you think is “easy” but it always depends on what you’re comparing it to.

Compared to Everest, Kilimanjaro is “easy”.

Compared to a leisurely walk on the beach, this is “difficult”.
