August is still the high season with large numbers of visitors from America and Europe dominating the northern safari circuit and Zanzibar. The weather is great at this time of year, although it can get a little windy in August and wildfires are a common occurrence that ravages dry grasslands.

Expect foggy conditions that detract from the beauty of the scene, obscure the grandeur of the landscape, and make photography more challenging, but then again, the wildlife scene is stunning. The migration has now moved north to the Lamai region in northern Serengeti as wildebeest and zebras begin to cross the Mara River.
