We follow the recommended guidelines of the Kilimanjaro Porter Assistance Program (KPAP) in all aspects of porter / crew orientation, payments and welfare. KPAP publishes recommended recommendations for all the operators.
The number of recommended tips for climbing Kilimanjaro is the same regardless of which route you choose. You must tip:
Chief Guide: $20/day
Guide assistant: $15/day
Porters: $8/day (for each porter)
Cook: $15/day.
This amount is per group of climbers, NOT per climber. You will be notified of the total number of your crew in progress and your confirmation email.
A gratuity must or should be paid to each crew member on the last morning of the climb.
