Tanzania is the best place to visit in January, especially the northern hemisphere: the Serengeti is extremely beautiful in January, February and March. The first groups of Great Migrants arrives on the Ndutu Plains in the southern Serengeti and are beginning preparations for the birthing weeks in February.
